Summary:

Under the direction of an R.N., the Nurse Extern provides basic nursing skills and care within the patient and family centered care model. Nursing skills include assisting with personal care, phlebotomy, EKG and basic nursing skills, etc. to facilitate quality service outcomes. 

JOB SUMMARY: SUPERVISION: A. Reports to: Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager or Designee A. Education (or equivalent years of experience): JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Enrollment in BSN program & completion of at least third year of program. Or enrollment in Associate Nursing program with completion of at least one year of nursing curriculum. Or completion of BSN/Associate Nursing program w/application to take NCLEX. B. Experience (or equivalent education): One year clinical experience as a Nursing Assistant in a health care setting is preferred. 

 WORKING CONDITIONS: A. Physical demands required on a regular basis to perform the essential functions of this job: Heavy B. Environmental demands under which this job is performed on a regular basis: Intense Unit Specific: NURSING C. Licensure Eligible for RN licensure at the completion of the BSN/Associate Nursing Program OR completed registration for NCLEX testing. NCLEX and successful passing within 6 months of graduation.
